Launched in 2011 by the National Park Trust, Kids to Park Day is a nationwide celebration of the great outdoors. By discovering and exploring public lands, kids can learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), and the country’s history. In addition, by teaching children to appreciate and enjoy public lands, a sense of responsibility and pride can be fostered, creating the next generation of park stewards and caretakers. Because kids need parks – and parks need kids!
