Thunderbolt Creek 12k & 30k
These moderately challenging 12k & 30K races take place on a beautiful stretch of the Thunderbolt Creek & Continental Divide Trail’s (CDT) west of Basin, Montana. The 30k includes a lollipop loop with an out-and back segment to the top of Thunderbolt Mountain. The 12k course does an out-and-back on the Thunderbolt Creek Trail up to gorgeous Cottonwood lake and back to the trailhead. Both cross a few small creeks, and there is great aid station support with water, snacks and gels.
The 30k course has approximately 3,200 feet of elevation gain, while the 12k has about 1000 feet of climb. Seasoned runners may have PR opportunities here. First-time 12k & 30k runners will enjoy the laid-back attitude, and everyone will love the scenery. This one is a must for your summer race calendar!
